Extract: Rule #3: Use The Right Direct Response Media

Once you have determined a clear message and you know you have the right market, the third element that will determine the success of your business is the media you choose.

However, before you choose the media, it’s important to be doing the right kind of marketing. You should be doing Direct Response marketing.

Only with Direct Response marketing can you accurately measure the effectiveness of every single ad campaign down to the penny. Why is this powerful for you?

Ask yourself, what ad campaigns you’re running right now or have run in the past?

If I sat down in front of you and asked what each ad campaign brought in for you in terms of inquiries, customers, pounds or dollars, could you tell me?

I could tell you this for each and every campaign I run and that I run for my clients. So again, why is this so powerful?

If you knew that, every time you did a mailing campaign that costs £1,000, you got 50 inquiries and 15 new customers – which directly generated £1,500 in profit – how often would you run that campaign? Probably until the profit generated was lower than the cost of the campaign or until you found a campaign that worked even better.

Let’s just go over those numbers: £20 per lead, £66.67 per client, £1000 in marketing, £22,500 in sales. That is a huge return on investment. I cannot guarantee that will happen to you, although I have had and have now clients who really do get 2000% return on their investment. At the small or large end, that is what optimisation is all about, web or not. The important thing is that this comes about only through Direct Response marketing.

Perhaps you’ll say that this type of marketing doesn’t work in your business. Your business is “different”.
But let me ask you four questions.

  • Do you want more customers, clients or patients?
  • Do you want them buying from you more often?
  • Do you want them spending more (or do you want to charge more) each time they buy from you?
  • Do you want them to give you more referrals than ever before?

If you answered yes to ANY of these questions then Your Business Isn’t Different!

This approach works in all of the following industries and more:

  • Retail (Bricks and Mortar and Online)
  • Restaurants (Up market to Fast Food)
  • Service Industries (Estate Agency, Carpet Cleaning, Plumbing and Trades)
  • Professional Practices (Law, Medical, Financial, etc;…)
