The latest research by Nielsen and NetRatings has revealed that more than half the UK's population is now connected to the internet.
Figures suggest that there are now 32.3 million net surfers in the UK, the ISP Review reports.
Those internet users are viewing more and more web pages. Each surfer is currently viewing about 1,000 pages per month, a 17 per cent increase on January 2004's figure of 855.
The most visited sites are search engines, attracting around 87 per cent of internet users.
Telecom and internet service providers' sites came second, with 80 per cent of those online visiting them, and sites for computers and electrical goods came third, attracting 72 per cent of users.
