Big Brother tops MSN searches
31 December 2004
As Britons eagerly await the next series of Celebrity Big Brother due to commence on January 6th, their fascination with the reality TV show shows no sign of abating as Big Brother is announced the most popular search on MSN this year.
The Reality TV show born from an idea in George Orwell's novel 1984 clearly still grips the nation despite the wave of new reality shows flooding our television screens.
However, Britons' thoughts are not solely dominated by frivolities and a more serious search - that of the Inland Revenue - followed closely behind Big Brother in the MSN searching stakes.
Horoscopes was the third most popular search subject with MSN users while EastEnders followed in forth and everyone's favourite game - football - was ranked fifth for this year.
While the game was still going strong in 2004, England football captain David Beckham did not fare so well with Internet users, dropping 56 places from 14 to 70 in the MSN 100 most popular searches of the year.
Following her appearance on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! with beau Peter Andre, glamour model Jordan, aka Katie Price, stole Beckham's crown as the most searched for celebrity, ranked in seventh place overall.
