Google launches new Froogle AdWords service
1 November 2004
Search giant Google has announced in its Froogle Friends Newsletter that it will be adding an Ad Automator to its shopping site.
Merchants with over 1000 products who are also AdWords advertisers are invited to try out the beta release of the new ad-producing technology.
The ad automator tool converts the merchants' product feeds into AdWords ads and determines what keywords would be most appropriate.
Google has been testing the new technology for some time, but this is the first time it has opened up the beta testing process so widely.
"You'll be able to create keyword-less data feed campaigns in your existing AdWords account while investing minimal time and effort," Google said.
The search engine also introduced changes to Froogle that help it catch up with other shopping search engines, including a new "compare prices" feature, letting users see multiple listings for a single product, and merchant ratings gathered from third-party sites like BizRate, Shopping.com and PriceGrabber.com.
Froogle will also continue to include products which are submitted by a free feed inclusion, Search Engine Journal reports.
