BT improves business broadband services

BT has announced plans that it is doubling the speed of its internet connections and offering enhanced levels of service to its Business Broadband Network customers.
The BT Business Broadband Network enables users to connect up to 20 computers to a single broadband connection and the UK telecoms giant said the improvements to its business broadband network products would be offered at no extra cost.
BT announced that customers using the 512kbps (Kilobits per second) and 1Mbps (Megabits per second) services will automatically be upgraded to Network 1000 and 2000 respectively, doubling download speeds. In addition, customers using the 2Mbps service will be able to take advantage of reduced line rental of £100 per month, down from £130.
As part of the upgrade, customers will also be given a service level guarantee (SLG) and advanced help desk support.
The faster connections allow companies to access BT's Value Add Services, including its Internet Security Pack, Internet Trader Pack and e-Business Manager, designed for SMEs. New customers who sign up will also have access to the improved services.
The upgrades to business services will be performed automatically by the end of the year.
The announcement from BT comes at a time when the telecoms firm is facing increased competition from broadband rivals.
