Ex-AOL executive joins Friendster

Friendster has announced the appointment of Charles Barrett as vice president of sales.
The former AOL executive vice president of sales will now oversee all aspects of advertising sales for the online Friendster network.
In a statement Friendster said his first initiatives would include building a world-class national ad sales team and creating new revenue producing programmes.
"I'm looking forward to building effective advertising and promotional programs that bring to marketers this hard-to-reach demographic as well as a unique platform to drive buzz, word of mouth referrals, and credibility for their products," Mr Barrett said.
"We are thrilled to have Charlie join Friendster," Scott Sassa, CEO of Friendster, added. "He has experience and proven success in building sales organizations from the ground up and scaling them to achieve significant, long term revenue growth. He has a truly visceral understanding of community based websites, start-up organizations, and in addition he is a very well-liked and well-respected individual in our business."
Prior to joining AOL in 2002, Mr Barrett worked as an executive for Yahoo! and was formerly the vice president, west coast region, for GeoCities.
