Cingular and Yahoo pair up on wireless internet project

Cingular Wireless has announced that it has teamed with Yahoo to offer an extensive suite of applications through its MEdia Net service.
The deal includes instant-messaging, e-mail, mapping, games, news, and weather-information applications.
Jim Ryan, vice president of data product management and business marketing for Cingular Wireless said "Cingular's new offerings of Yahoo's leading services are designed to meet this lifestyle need through the delivery of innovative features that are on the cutting edge of wireless technology."
Cingular customers can now log in to the Yahoo website from their wireless phones and will be able to access their choice of Yahoo's application offerings, including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Local Info, Yahoo! Sports, Yahoo! News and Yahoo! Games.
Microsoft has also announced that its instant messaging service is available for Verizon mobile users.
Cingular's Media Net packages range in price from $7.99 to $19.99 a month.
