Overture signs deal with NEWS Ltd

Yahoo's search marketing company Overture has announced that it has reached a partnership agreement with Australian firm NEWS Interactive, the digital arm of media network News Ltd.
Under the terms of the agreement, Overture will provide advertising and search services to the News Interactive websites, including news.com.au, CareerOne, realestate.com.au, and websites for newspapers such as The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, The Herald Sun and The Courier Mail. The new agreement will also bring in-site search to the network's websites.
News Interactive managing director Nic Jones revealed the company was the first internet network in Australia to implement Overture's entire online marketing suite.
"We believe that our agreement with Overture will set a precedent for the Australian industry,"Mr Jones said in a statement. "By combining the expertise of both our companies we will capture significant value in one of the fastest-growing online advertising markets."
"The difference with Overture and Google is Google is a destination website, Overture is a partner," Overture's Australian managing director Mel Bohse added.
News Interactive is the third major Australian online publisher to agree a partnership deal with Overture in the past two months. Overture has also signed deals with Ninemsn and Fairfax's F2 since opening its Australian office in February.
