Dogpile wins PC Magazine award
4 June 2004
Search engine Dogpile has announced that it has been awarded the PC Magazine Editor's Choice Award for its toolbar.
The award, detailed in the next issue of the magazine, released on June 8th, is the third major industry award won by Dogpile this year.
PC Magazine editors praised Dogpile's metasearch functionality, which simultaneously searches leading engines such as Google, Yahoo!, and Ask Jeeves, and returns the best results from each. The magazine also highlighted the Toolbar's live content ticker and the wide array of additional features, including yellow and white pages, pop-up blocker and keyword highlighter.
In the February 2004 Dogpile was named first runner-up in the Search Engines category of PC World's "Web Stars: Best of the Web" feature and also took top honours in the "PC World Best Bet Award" category. Industry newsletter Search Engine Watch named Dogpile "Best Metasearch Engine" this year, in both the popular vote and editors' choice sections.
"We're delighted to be recognized for our efforts to understand the needs of our users and develop new technologies and features that effectively address them," said Leslie Grandy, vice president of product management, Search and Directory, at InfoSpace, Inc.
Dogpile has also announced the launch of an upgraded toolbar with enhanced functionality for viewing syndicated RSS and ATOM content. The new toolbar will make it easier for users to monitor information, with a new ticker option that allows for sequential viewing of all feeds within a user's customised list.
