Citysearch signs deal for Overture ads

Search engine Citysearch has signed a deal with Yahoo-owned Overture to integrate Overture's sponsored search listings into its results.
The new agreement will fill in the gaps in Citysearch's local search program, which provides listings for cities in the United States and abroad. Full details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Overture's keyword-based adverts will appear in areas where Citysearch has available ad inventory such as home services, professional services, and medical specialists. Overture will also provide contextually sponsored search results on the Citysearch site above its editorial listings, under the heading "Sponsored Results".
"We are excited to be able to extend our extensive network of local traffic to Overture's sponsored search listings, providing their advertisers with a rich base of users," Briggs Ferguson, chief executive officer of Citysearch, commented.
"We believe that contextually relevant and appropriate advertising will help to enhance our user experience, by providing the information needed to make informed decisions on local services and goods."
Citysearch had previously held discussions with Google to provide these ad listing services.
Launched last June, Citysearch has drawn 25,000 advertisers to the program. In the first quarter of 2004, Citysearch parent company InterActive Corp said paid listings revenue grew 37 per cent, compared with the previous quarter.
