NineMSN teams up with Overture

NineMSN has signed up Overture as a replacement for outgoing paid search provider LookSmart.
NineMSN's contract with LookSmart ended in January this year and the new deal means that Overture's auction-based pay-per-click advertisements will be listed by NineMSN in ten days time.
NineMSN CEO, Martin Hoffman, said that the deal would play a vital role in bringing the Australian search industry in line with global markets.
"This announcement between [NineMSN] and Overture is one of the first steps towards seeing that boom in the [Australian] industry and I think there'll be very strong growth over the next year in search advertising," he explained.
Overture is currently the largest paid search provider in the world and entered the Australian search market three months ago. Overture Australia managing director, Mel Bohse, announced in February this year that the company planned to extend its network of partners to reach 80 per cent of the Australian search market.
Meanwhile, NineMSN's decision to ditch LookSmart marks the end of the company's presence in Australia.
Paul Siminsky, Chief Operating Officer for LookSmart, said: "With Sensis now finalising plans for the launch of their new search platform together with NineMSN's decision to deliver pay for placement listings through its global partner Overture, LookSmart will now complete its exit from the Australian market."
