New search engine Ujiko unveiled
4 May 2004
Paris-based internet company KartOO has launched a new search engine, Ujiko.com.
The new engine comes packed with unique features, including a search results page using Flash, a heart-shaped favourites button and a trash button, allowing users to customise searches.
Ujiko, powered by Yahoo technology, is part of the KartOO metasearch network and boasts a crawled database of over 4 billion pages.
Alexandre Santos, marketing manager of KartOO, said: "It (Ujiko) will allow you to easily customise your queries: It gives preference to sites you like in the results list and does not return the ones you dislike in future searches. Thus, the more you use it, the better results match your expectations."
All sites returned by Ujiko can be modified by title or description and searchers can create filters to mark or delete some results depending on their URLs or descriptions.
The Ujiko search results feature paid listings provided by Overture. The website also features French and UK versions of its search engine.
