Arsenal in BT Yahoo! partnership
23 September 2004
Premiership football champions Arsenal have announced that they have entered a marketing partnership with BT Yahoo! to entice fans to move into broadband.
The deal will give the telecommunications provider direct access to Arsenal's wide fan-base throughout the world.
It will enable fans to receive special offers on BT Yahoo! Internet products and is aimed at getting Arsenal supporters signed up to BT broadband.
Members of “The Arsenal”, the club's official membership scheme, will be able to get free email addresses, while Arsenal's club shops at Highbury and Finsbury Park will sell BT Yahoo! CDs.
“Arsenal fans and 'The Arsenal' members will be able to read the most up-to-date football news and views via the web, as well as be able to communicate with other fans online,” said Arsenal's commercial director Adrian Ford.
Arsenal claims that its website, which will have a BT Yahoo! banner constantly running across it, already generates around a million monthly users.
Advertisements for the telecoms company will also run on the club's two big screens on match days.
