Virgin.net signs distribution deal with supermarkets
30 June 2004
ISP Virgin.net has signed a distribution deal with retailers Somerfield and Kwik Save to stock ISP registration CDs.
The CDs will be sited at till points in over 1200 Somerfield and Kwik Save stores nationwide. They will be free to all in-store shoppers and will provide the means to sign-up to any one of Virgin.net's three Internet packages - Pay as You Go, 24seven or Broadband.
The roll-out is already underway and will be supported with in-store promotions and point of sale throughout the year.
Peter Tuomey, Virgin.net sales & marketing director said: "Home Internet access is now truly mass market. 13 million UK homes are now online.
About 2 million of these are likely to switch from their current Internet provider during 2004 and a further one and a half million homes will come online for the first time this year.
That's a sizeable market opportunity and this retail distribution agreement with Somerfield and Kwik Save is a key part of ensuring we continue to take a sizeable share of the growth".
