Another technical problem for Yahoo!
18 June 2004
A hardware problem led to some Yahoo! websites and service slowing for the second in less than a week, on Thursday.
Between 3pm and 5pm, some users may have experienced a slow response from the company's servers and Yahoo!'s instant messaging service.
In a statement, the company attributed the glitch to "an isolated hardware issue".
This latest glitch was completely unrelated to Tuesday's incident when Yahoo! and several other websites including Apple and Microsoft, became sluggish. Regulator Akamai said this was caused by a "sophisticated" attack.
Earlier this week, Yahoo! users reported problems with the new upgraded email service, when 10,000 emails were accidentally sent out informing users they had exceeded their storage space, even though they had not.
