Yahoo plans to increase email storage
14 May 2004
The Internet company Yahoo has announced plans to increase its current online email storage limits.
The move is seen as a direct result of Google's announcement to offer its users a free email service with a 1GB limit.
Yahoo released details of the new limits following an analyst meeting of its executives. The new limit for free users is expected to be raised from 6MB to 100MB. However subscribers to Yahoo's premium email service can expect 'virtually unlimited' mailboxes.
A UK spokesperson for the company said: "Basically it will be hard for users to perceive that there is a limit."
The new storage capacity will be part of an overall enhancement for Yahoo Mail. It is expected that the service will get a makeover and will integrate more with other Yahoo services, such as Photos and Messenger.
