UK Net Guide acquires LookSmart directory

Online directory company UK Net Guide has announced that is has purchased the rights to the UK directory of website reviewer LookSmart.
A spokesperson for UK Net Guide said that the purchase would increase the number of independently reviewed sites in the UK on the company's website. as well as improving its market position.
LookSmart closed its UK operation in January after failing to renew its listings agreement with MSN and has now handed control of its remaining UK assets, its directory and domain name, to UK Net Guide. Visitors to the looksmart.co.uk website are now being redirected to uknetguide.co.uk website.
A statement from UK Net Guide said: "LookSmart's UK directory will be a valuable addition to our existing site, creating the largest directory of independently reviewed websites in the UK."
The UK Net Guide Network features over 80 specialist directories in 15 market sectors, and claims to provide users with quick and easy access to the leading sites in each sector. The LookSmart UK web domain attracted an average 10,000 visitors a day.
The financial terms of the acquisition have not been released.
