Yahoo in talks over online music store
6 February 2004
In a bid to extend business and take advantage of a growing market, Yahoo is reportedly planning to introduce its own online music store.
Last year the firm bought a company called Mediacode, according to Cnet, acquiring its media jukebox and player.
Yahoo is also said to have met with Apple software partner MusicWatch, generating the latest rumours that it might take over the smaller firm.
No offers are thought to have been made yet and sources described discussions as preliminary.
In an aggressive bid to try and double UK ads revenue, Yahoo is reportedly also considering a number of strategies to extend including delivering original editorial content and selling insurance online.
