Yahoo blocks certain messages in big to fight MyDoom
30 January 2004
The Yahoo group has announced that it will be blocking email messages sent with subjects including any words that have been associated with the current MyDoom virus.
Yahoo informed members of the Yahoo Group today that it was making the move based on a security advisory from Symantec, according to ZDNet UK.
Advice from the group explained that numerous delays were occurring when delivering group email messages due to outbreaks of viruses.
Yahoo claimed that the measure was only temporary and was being carried out to improve performance and prevent further worms being spread.
Messages will be rejected if they include the following subject lines - test, hi, hello, Mail Delivery System, Mail Transaction Failed, Server Report, Status Error.
