Government sites get rise in hits during Blair's toughest week
28 January 2004
As Tony Blair faces his hardest week, hits to Labour and Hutton sites have risen extensively as Internet users try to keep up to date on developments.
Interest in lifestyle politics' websites peaked leading up to votes on the crucial Higher Education Bill and has been high pending the publication of Lord Hutton's long awaited report into the death of weapons expert Dr David Kelly.
According to Hitwise, the Labour Party's site was the sixth most visited political website on Monday, doubling its visits in just two days.
However Hitwise data also shows that after visiting the site more than one in 25 visitors went straight to the Conservative Party's website.
Data also showed that the Hutton Inquiry website had increased its visitors by 700 per cent since January 19, not only this once there visitors stayed for over 11 minutes on the site.
A statement will be delivered at 12.30 today on the Hutton inquiry and then the full findings will be published an hour later on the site.
