Friends Reunited signs Ask Jeeves deal
15 December 2003
Friends Reunited, the cult online service that allows school friends to get back in touch, has selected Ask Jeeves to provide a search engine on its website.
Under the deal, Friends Reunited subscribers will be able to search the web directly, using a branded Ask Jeeves box that will appear on every website page, according to Revolution magazine.
The two websites are ranked as the tenth most popular in the UK for Ask Jeeves and the 14th most popular for Friends Reunited, and are hoping to boost hits to both with the deal.
'This is an important deal between two of the most popular brands on the internet,' Michael Murphy, Friends Reunited chief executive, told the magazine. 'Our members have told us this is a service they want and the Ask Jeeves brand is a very natural fit.'
The agreement also builds on previous partnerships that Ask Jeeves has built with some of the UK's favourite sites, such as Tesco, Streetmap and Lycos.
