Japan gets iTunes service

Apple has launched its iTunes music downloads service in Japan.
Japan is the second largest market in the world for albums and Apples iTunes is now available in 20 countries worldwide and reaches 85 per cent of the global music market.
The Japanese service now offers music fans a million songs, most priced at 150 yen (75p) to download and Apple hopes it will boost sales of its iPod digital player in Japan.
Announcing the Japanese launch, Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said: "We think this is going to change the experience of discovering and buying and enjoying music in Japan. Together with the iPod, we think we are ushering in a whole new age of digital music."
Music download site Napster has also announced plans to launch in Japan in partnership with Tower Records.
