Incisive purchases Search Engine Strategies for £24m

3 August 2005

UK publisher Incisive Media has announced that it has agreed a $43 million (£24.3 million) deal to purchase Search Engine Strategies.

Search Engine Strategies is a New York-based organiser of conferences and online newsletters for the search engine industry and organises a host of events, bringing together the top faces from search giants such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask Jeeves.

Nasdaq-listed Jupitermedia Corporation currently owns Search Engine Strategies and clickZ.com, which is the main recruitment site for the conferences.

Tim Weller, chief executive of Incisive, said: "This deal takes us into what is possibly one of the most exciting marketing services niches that there is. I believe search has rapidly become the killer application of the internet and the main driver behind the growth in online advertising."

SES runs events in New York, London, Tokyo, Toronto, Munich, San Jose, Stockholm and Chicago each year. The organisation attracted a total of 13,000 delegates to conferences last year and also posts a daily newsletter on searchenginewatch.com.
