New blog every second

A new blog, or web log, is created every second, a new survey suggests
According to blog search site Technorati, 80,000 new weblogs are being created every day for people to share their thoughts online.
The State of the Blogosphere report reveals that the number of personal publishing sites has doubled in size in just over five months and Technorati tracked more than 14.2 million blogs in July, compared with 7.8 million in March.
However, many blogs do not stick around long, with only around half of all blogs updated in the previous three months and just 13 per cent updated every week or more often. The number of active blogs has been steady for the past year.
Dave Sifry, founder and CEO of Technorati, said: "I think that this shows that even as the blogosphere is growing at a geometric pace, the 'stickiness' of the tools and the willingness to write hasn't changed much at all."
Mr Sifry said Japan, Korea, China, the UK, France and Brazil has shown particular growth. The report also states that free blogging services such as those provided by MSN Spaces, Blogger, LiveJournal, AOL Journals, WordPress and Movable Type are becoming increasingly popular, as are moblogs, which enable people to send pictures and text from camera phones.
