AOL hopes video search will lift ad revenue

4 July 2005

AOL is testing a new service that will enable users to search video content owned by its parent company.

The entertainment and news archives held by Time Warner are expected to pull in more customers from rival search engines.

The move comes as competition for advertising revenue hots up and will provide AOL with a new weapon for its arsenal.

Searching for video content is expected to be a major growth area for the internet as more and more users access the web over broadband connections.

AOL is currently testing a beta version of the service called AOL Video.
