Yahoo to use Overture paid search listings
6 November 2003
Yahoo has decided to use paid search listings generated by its recently acquired subsidiary Overture, in a move that sees the end of a previous deal with Espotting.
As of this week Overture results will appear on Yahoo sites in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, France and Germany. Plans to launch operations in Scandinavia have also been announced.
In addition Yahoo Japan, a partnership of Yahoo and Softbank, has divided its paid listings between Overture and Google in a deal set to expire next year.
Yahoo's decision to part with Espotting marks the second major blow to the company's distribution, having lost a deal with Ask Jeeves UK in May this year. Espotting still maintains contracts with a number of European search engines.
The London-based company is currently undergoing acquisition by FindWhat.com for a reported $27 million (£16 million).
