Yahoo to use Overture in Europe
31 October 2003
Overture is to be installed as Yahoo's new search broker for its European operations, according to industry reports.
Due to the fact that Yahoo already owns Overture it is unsurprising that the Internet service provider has chosen to exploit its search capabilities.
It is expected that Yahoo will roll out Overture across a wider variety of area and territories than is covered at present.
Microsoft currently uses Overture in its search service but is expected to go fully in-house in the near future, following announcements that it will float shares on the stock market next year.
In a Jupiter Research report of US paid-for search services released yesterday, Overture outperformed Google as the best paid listing service.
However, Google's acquisition of Primedia's Sprinks division is likely to alter these standings in its favour.
