Napster relaunches

Popular music download service Napster returns to the Internet this week with a new paid-for service.
Users will be allowed access to a large library of songs, available for download at a cost of 99 cents (58p) each, and monthly subscribers are offered unlimited listening for $9.99 (£5.85) per month.
Napster's re-release is set to increase competition in the online music sector, with many companies launching and having launched similar services this year.
BT Yahoo recently launched a revamped music download site, and other large firms such as AOL and Microsoft are due to initiate competing sites next year.
'We're still very much in the early days of online music distribution, whether we're talking about a la carte downloads or subscriptions,' commented GartnerG2 analyst Michael McGuire to Silicon.
