Bloglines plans blog search engine
27 May 2005
Bloglines, now a division of Ask Jeeves, is reportedly planning to develop a "world-class blog search engine".
Snubbing blog search sites Technorati, Feedster, PubSub and IceRocket, Mark Fletcher, CEO of Bloglines, told BusinessWeek.com that a thorough search engine for blogs was lacking.
Mr Fletcher appears to see Bloglines organising and providing relevant feeds to the user's desktop, with the search function integrated into the Bloglines notifier.
The Bloglines boss said that he hoped to have a comprehensive Bloglines search engine by the summer.
Bloglines is one of the most popular online news aggregators and has a huge subscriber base. The decision to launch a search engine for blogs could open up new search engine marketing and optimisation opportunities.
