Kuwait sets Arabic search engine in motion

10 May 2005

Kuwait has reportedly initiated a search engine to archive all Arabic websites on the internet.

Speaking at a world information forum in Cairo, Suoud al-Zaid, assistant director general for information systems of Kuwait's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that the majority of the project would be finalised by the end of 2005.

The initiative is a result of co-operation between the private and public sectors in Kuwait, according to the Kuwait News Agency.

The three-day forum in Egypt will debate the future of communications in the Middle East and ways of managing the internet.
