Yahoo! announces video search launch
5 May 2005
Yahoo! has announced that its video search service is now widely available to the public.
The new service, available at http://video.search.yahoo.com, rolled out as a test in December.
The video search enables web users to find news clips, music videos and movie trailers from such sources as CBSNews.com, MTV.com and IFILM.com.
The general release of the video search comes just days after search rival Google announced new partners for its test video search service, which allows users to search closed captioning content and see still shots of video clips.
The Yahoo! search service allows users to find and view all types of video, from news footage and movie trailers to clips from television shows and independently produced videos.
Yahoo!'s partners include CBS News, Reuters, Country Music Television, MTV.com, IFILM.com, Home & Garden Television, Discovery Communications' Discovery Channel, TVEyes, Internet Broadcasting Systems, The One Network, and Stupid Videos.
