New Travelocity.ca search engine offers travel marketing options

3 May 2005

Canadian search engine Travelocity.ca has launched a new search engine for its Last Minute Deals product.

The powerful new engine can deliver the power of 50 searches in one and gives consumers maximum choice and flexibility, whether they know their exact travel dates and destination or if they are flexible in their planning, Travelocity claims.

Toronto-based Travelocity.ca works like a personal shopper and returns requested results, as well as including relevant alternatives displayed in a new dashboard view.

Alternatives offered include other dates for the chosen destination, nearby and regional destinations for the chosen dates, other relevant destinations for the chosen dates based on matching categories such as "Sun & Beach", "International", and "Outdoors".

All options are shown with easy-to-compare pricing in Canadian funds,
including taxes from the consumer's departure city.

"Travelocity.ca has again revolutionized the travel shopping experience, making it easy for travellers to get away as often as they like," said Brian Simpson, general manager of Travelocity.ca.

"When planning a quick getaway, sometimes destination is important, but often travellers are just looking to get a great deal on 'anywhere but here' this weekend."

Travelocity.ca does not require that travellers know where and when they want to go before showing the deals. The new search engine also refers to open-ended requests such as "Europe this weekend" or "See all destinations this Friday-Sunday", enabling travellers to plan their trips with as much or as little information as they have on hand.

Travelocity.ca's Last Minute Deals can be made from 14 days in advance up to three hours before and include flight plus hotel (with optional car), flight plus car, or hotel plus car. Deals are available to locations throughout North America and around the world, departing from Halifax, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Travelocity is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sabre Holdings Corporation.
