Google Local search on Accuweather
25 April 2005
Google Local has teamed up with Accuweather in the company's first outsourcing of Google Local to a partner.
Web users checking the weather at Accuweather can now conduct a local business search.
The Google Local search box appears in the upper right after a user queries for a local weather forecast and people can then to employ the full Google Local database to search for anything in that city, such as pizza in New York.
The results appear with AdWords at the top of the page, followed by Google Local "organic" results and users can also access a more limited version of the mapping functionality.
Google's first local search syndication could mark a new avenue for the company, which would help raise the company's profile and awareness of the Google Local service.
Companies such as InfoSpace and Interchange have already been syndicating local search results for some time.
