TiVo talks to Google and Yahoo!
19 April 2005
TiVo is reported to be in talks with both Google and Yahoo! to provide customers with the ability to search for video on the web and download it to their televisions.
Digital video recording company TiVo is believed to be seeking a partnership or possible equity investment.
Both Yahoo! and Google now have video search services and TiVo is an immensely popular service that would complement either brand.
A possible scenario would be a new service that would let consumers search for videos on the web and watch them on their television sets.
TiVo, Google and Yahoo! have all refused to comment on the rumours.
Last month, TiVo announced a major partnership with cable TV company Comcast in the US that will allow Comcast customers the opportunity to use TiVo services.
