Yahoo! upgrades Firefox toolbar with anti-spyware
7 April 2005
Internet firm Yahoo! has added anti-spyware to its toolbar for the Firefox browser.
The portal has also released a version of its Firefox toolbar for people using the open-source browser on Mac and Linux operating systems.
Yahoo! Anti-Spy is available for download free of charge and enables users to remove spyware and adware from their computers. The software also provides links to additional information, helpful news stories and details on the top five pests.
Along with anti-spyware, the Yahoo! Toolbar lets user search a single website and add news syndication feeds to a person's My Yahoo! homepage. In addition, it stores a user's search history and provides email alerts.
Additional features include bookmarks and custom buttons, "search this site" to find results just for the current website, "translate this page" based on the popular Babelfish tools and one click "Add to My Yahoo!" on sites that provide RSS/Atom feeds.
The award-winning Yahoo! Toolbar is available to people using the IE or Firefox web browsers and is the number one toolbar for conducting search queries in the US.
