Gigablast launches new 'Related Pages' feature

24 March 2005

Internet search engine firm Gigablast has unveiled a new Related Pages feature on its website.

For example, users searching for 'Colorado activities' on Gigablast.com can go to the pastel yellow Related Pages segment of the results page and click on the 'more' link to expand the segment.

The site will then display a list of webpages contextually related to the original query terms, but that have no obvious direct connection to them.

"Related Pages are highly relevant search results which do not necessarily contain the searcher's query terms. A lot of these related pages are never even returned by other search engines for that reason," said Matt Wells, CEO & founder of Gigablast.

He added: "Be on the lookout for more innovative search enhancements originating from Gigablast later this year."

Gigablast also recently announced a 50 per cent increase in the size of its index from one billion to 1.5 billion webpages. The new, larger index includes a comprehensive refresh of webpages from the previous index.

Founded in 2000, Gigablast was created to index up to 200 Billion webpages with the least amount of hardware possible. It provides
large-scale, high-performance, real-time information retrieval technology for partner sites and offers a variety of features including topic generation and the ability to index multiple document formats.
