New look for Google News
11 March 2005
Google has revamped its popular Google News section, enabling users to rearrange sections, delete or add new sections or add their own customised section.
Other options open to users include altering the order of the sections, adding or deleting the main sections, such as Business or Sports, and change the number of headlines displayed. It is also possible to add country specific news from 22 countries around the world.
Sections can be added by entering keywords to a box and the new section then appears alongside the standard boxes immediately. Any changes are reflected in the menu bar on the left hand side of the page.
By selecting one of the options at the top right hand side of the page, 'customised', 'standard' or 'text only' news can be viewed. All the information is stored in a cookie.
Google News is an aggregate of some 4,500 different news sources from around the world, updated regularly and stories are divided into separate sections, such as World, Sports, Entertainment and Sci/Tech.
