Navango seeks testers and researchers

9 March 2005

Search engine Navango has announced that it is currently looking for "Quality Researchers" and beta testers interested to sharing their ideas and bug reports.

Ahead of its full launch later this year, Navango product manager Mr Bosch said: "We understand there are already many search engines and nobody really needs yet another one - However, Navango is different as we focus on reducing spam submissions and also on offering very unique features which will enable our users to learn more about a website before they even visit."

The new search engine aims to deliver relevant search results with no advertising or search engine spam results. Navango describes search engine spam as "sites which use questionable tactics such as cloaking, link farms and/or over used keyword placement to achieve high search engine rankings".

There will be no advertisements on the Navango search engine. "We are not saying advertising is a bad thing - however, we believe displaying related press releases grabs more attention than 'buy this or that at 50 per cent'," Mr Bosch said.

"Serious companies all use the power of press releases to grab media attention and Navango will help such companies to get the attention they need. We have partnered with a leading press release distribution company to deliver the latest press releases to our users which will be a huge benefit for companies and end users."

Navango indicates if a site contains Javascript, background sounds, embedded objects or movies and also if it accepts online payments, such as Paypal, 2Checkout or other payment processors.
