AOL launches new search engine

7 February 2005

America Online (AOL) has veiled a new search engine that will sort search results by geography and by topic.

The new search tool will also offer users a suggestion tool and AOL hopes that it will be able to cash in on the continuing boom in online advertising.

The acquisition of Advertising.com by AOL in June 2004 is part of the company's global plan to increase advertising revenues.

AOL announced the changes to its search engine shortly after an industry survey showed that it was not among the top five search engines in the United States.
