InternetTrails launches new WiderSearch.com metasearch site

Virginia-based InternetTrails has unveiled a new metasearch site, WiderSearch.com, a new proprietary search algorithm that it claims greatly enhances the relevance of search results gathered from leading search engines.
Umbrella results from a number of leading search engines are re-ordered based on WiderSearch's refined relevance algorithm and the new site will compete with other metasearch sites like Search.com and Mamma.
"We made a decision to serve today's mass market in search," said Jeff Tadie, president of InternetTrails, the company that started WiderSearch.com and SearchNear.com(beta), a new local search engine. "The vast majority of users conduct simple searches without a location parameter or specialised search query. However, they often become frustrated by results that are not trustworthy, accurate or complete. WiderSearch tries to smooth the rough edges of traditional search and deliver better, more relevant results."
WiderSearch displays up to five performance-based sponsored links above the consolidated search results and website owners and businesses can self-publish their own sponsored listings by placing bids as low as five cents per click.
SearchNear.com(beta) is a pure local search engine, building a 'local content index' from the ground up. The beta site has thousands of records in the local content index, heavily emphasising local product and service providers. Merchants and website owners can self-publish their business listing on SearchNear.com and return periodically to revise their profile, or add another site or business to the search index.
