MSN to provide free video service
15 October 2003
Microsoft has announced plans to launch a free online video service via its MSN provider system, in the coming months.
The move is part of an ongoing bid to attract new users and boost revenue generated by paid-for-placement advertising.
It is hoped that the increasing number of high-speed Internet users will be drawn towards new services such as reliable video connections.
Following the closure of a deal between US television network NBC and Microsoft, the new MSN service will enable users to view 15-second advertising video clips, on sale to businesses.
It has been reported that Microsoft's advertising sales rose 48 per cent in the 12 months ending June 30 this year, successes that the company are keen to build upon.
