Microsoft offers Outlook-Hotmail combination

Microsoft has announced that it is launching a new subscription service.

The new offering will bring together MSN Hotmail and MS Outlook a combined subscription based module.

Users do not need to own MS Outlook for the service, named 'Microsoft Office Outlook Live'. Microsoft is offering PIM software on subscription bases and the package includes Office Outlook 2003 along with two GB of online storage combined with features like spam and virus protection.

Microsoft plans to offer it for $59.95 a year and users will be able to send emails of up to 20megs as part of the deal.

Outlook will function as a front-end of MSN Hotmail and users can use it mail purposes, as well as a calendar and contact manager.

The combined package will be offered in the US, the UK and Canada initially and will be rolled out in other countries if it proves successful.
